5-31-16 Members Present: Tenaya, Ray, Isabel, Laurel MEMBERS ABSENT: TIMMY FREAKING DEAKING RANDAZZO • I’m showing laurel the ropes. I’m also not going to capitalize her name because I’m lazy. • Ella’s talking to me about gov/econ. Ray just distracted her. • Reading the synopsis for a play called “Agatha Crusty and The Mighty Midget Murders” • Genderswapped Sweeney Todd: Tenaya’s suggestion • I’m gonna make Laurel take over in a second so that I can see if she’s fit to inherit my legacy. • I already know no one can rise to the level of Zack • Note from Zach: She misspelled my name. This is a bad start. • Rights for Sweeney Todd: £375.00 • Doing The Tempest with girls? Ariel is a girl • Isabel: People in the Tempest will give unexperienced actors the chance to chill • Ray: Sets for the Tempest will be simple and easy to make • Tenaya: the Tempest will give tech (mostly sound) to have cooler things happen • We have strong tech now so we should take advantage of that and teach new techs • Contemporary plays: The Crucible is not a comedy and we’ve done too many comedies • “I hate doing comedies” –Isabel 2k16 • The Crucible is really crazy which is easier to relate to high school students • Almost Maine: Gives everyone the chance to have larger roles and scenes can easily be cut • We’re killing Mighty Murder Midgets. Sorry Timmy. • Sweeney Todd might be too crazy because our acting capacity won’t be able to perform it well • Legally Blonde is really cliché, but it’s easy to do and it has strong females • Sweeney Todd is dirt cheap • We aren’t a theatre arts school: We don’t have that kind of confidence • DOO DOO • Going back to gender role issues, we should pick shows that give guys the opportunity to shine • We will meet again on Thursday, June 2nd to pick plays • Candidates for contemporary plays: The Crucible and Almost Maine • Candidates for Shakespeare: The Tempest and Twelfth Night • Candidates for musicals: Sweeney Todd and Legally Blonde. Music Man?
